What Holmes is — and isn't
Holmes provides general home-maintenance information and reminders based on what it observes in the videos and photos you share. It is not a professional home inspection, and it can miss things or get things wrong.
Always consult a licensed professional for gas, electrical and structural issues. If you smell gas, see sparks or smoke, or suspect an emergency, leave the area and contact your utility or emergency services.
Your account
You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your email and Apple ID secure. You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Settings.
Free and Holmes Plus
Holmes is free to start. The free tier includes one home scan and three active reminders.
Holmes Plus is a subscription, available for $59.99 per year (with a 7-day free trial) or $9.99 per month. Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region; the App Store shows the price that applies to you before you buy.
- Subscriptions are purchased, billed and managed by Apple through your Apple ID.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Holmes Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Free trial
The annual plan of Holmes Plus starts with a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription begins and Apple charges the annual price. You can cancel during the trial in your Apple ID settings and won't be charged.
Acceptable use
Please use Holmes for its purpose: caring for a home you live in or are responsible for. Don't:
- upload videos or photos of places you don't have permission to record, or content that is unlawful or harmful;
- use Holmes to watch or track other people;
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get around the limits or security of the service;
- use automated means to access Holmes, or resell it.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Your content
Your videos, photos and home details belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Holmes to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
Holmes is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that Holmes will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will detect every problem in your home. Information about weather and product recalls comes from public sources and may be delayed or incomplete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, TensorHQ is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for property damage, loss or injury arising from your use of Holmes or your reliance on its information. Our total liability for any claim relating to Holmes is limited to the amount you paid for Holmes in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Ending these terms
You can stop using Holmes and delete your account at any time. We may stop offering Holmes or end your access if you break these terms; where we reasonably can, we'll give you notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using Holmes after an update, the new terms apply.
